How PDFs and images are processed

Your PDFs and images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.

When you use Merge PDFs, Images to PDF, or Compress PDF, your browser reads the files you choose and keeps working copies in the page’s memory so the tool can run. Image previews and downloads use temporary blob addresses created by your browser. Those working copies are part of using the tool on your device. They are not sent to PDFStyler as file uploads.

You keep your original files. If you download a result, that file is saved where your browser puts downloads. We do not keep a copy of either file on our servers. We do not claim that data is wiped from your browser’s memory, cache, or device when you leave the page.

Information received through the website

This application does not create accounts, keep a file history, or send your documents to a server for processing.

Like most websites, the host that serves these pages may record technical information about visits in server or security logs. That can include the date and time of a request, the page or file requested, your IP address, and your browser type. Those logs, if they exist, would not include the contents of your PDFs or images, because those files are not uploaded.

We cannot confirm from this application’s code what the hosting provider records, where those logs are stored, or how long they are kept. If we later have a confirmed description from the host, we will update this policy.

Information you send by email

If you email contact@precisiondigital.co.uk, we receive whatever you include in that message. That usually includes your email address and any name or details you choose to write. Please do not send sensitive documents. If a screenshot would help, send a redacted one.

We use that correspondence to reply to support, bug reports, feedback, and privacy questions.

Analytics, advertising and browser storage

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure page visits and understand how the website is used. The Analytics script loads only after you accept analytics cookies. Google may receive information about your page views, browser and device, and set first-party analytics cookies. We do not send the contents of your PDFs or images to Analytics.

With your separate consent, we use Google AdSense to display and measure advertisements. AdSense may receive your IP address, browser and device details, page information, and ad interactions, and may use cookies or similar technologies. The production site includes the AdSense loader once. Advertising cookies and ad requests stay denied under Google Consent Mode until you enable Advertising. PDF and image contents are never sent to AdSense.

We save your separate Analytics and Advertising choices in localStorage. You can change either choice using “Cookie settings” in the footer. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.

Purposes and lawful bases

Where we process personal data, we do so under UK GDPR. The main situations are:

  • Running the website and keeping it secure. If the host keeps access or security logs, that processing is for our legitimate interests in operating, debugging, and protecting the service (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
  • Measuring site use. If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics based on your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw this consent from Cookie settings at any time.
  • Displaying advertising. If you enable Advertising, we use Google AdSense based on your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Advertising is optional and is not required to use the PDF tools.
  • Answering your email. We handle support and privacy messages because we have a legitimate interest in responding to you, and because we may need to take steps at your request (UK GDPR Articles 6(1)(f) and, where relevant, 6(1)(b)).

We do not process the contents of your PDFs or images on our servers. Choosing a file in the browser does not, by itself, give us that file.

Recipients and international transfers

Personal data in hosting logs, if any, is handled by the organisation that hosts the website. If you enable Analytics or Advertising, Google processes related data and its services may involve processing outside the UK. Personal data in an email you send is handled by your email provider and ours, and then by us.

We do not sell personal data. We have not verified the hosting or email providers’ locations from this repository, so we cannot list overseas transfers as a confirmed fact. If a provider stores information outside the UK, that transfer would depend on that provider’s arrangements. We will name providers and transfer safeguards here if they are confirmed.

How long information is kept

We do not retain your PDFs or images on our servers, because they are not uploaded.

Emails are kept for as long as we need them to handle your enquiry and any related legal or accounting obligations, then deleted or stored only if we still have a reason to keep them.

We cannot state a retention period for hosting or security logs because that setting is not visible in this application. Google Analytics retention is set in the Analytics property settings; contact us to ask about the current setting or your analytics data.

Your rights

If we hold personal data about you, you can ask us to access it, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to our using it. Where the law provides a right to data portability, you can ask for that too.

You can withdraw Analytics or Advertising consent at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already took place.

To use these rights, email contact@precisiondigital.co.uk.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection: ico.org.uk.
